to the kids who survived the 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's and 70,s
First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant. They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can and didn't get
tested for diabetes. Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-base paints.
We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, locks on doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, We had baseball caps Not helmets on our heads. As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, no booster seats, no seat belts, no air bags, bald tires and sometimes no brakes.
Riding in the back of a pick-up truck on a warm day was always a special treat. We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle. We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and no one actually died from this.
We ate cupcakes made with Lard, white bread, real butter and bacon. We drank FLAV- OR- AID made with real white sugar. And, we weren't overweight. WHY? Because we were always outside playing.....that's why! We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on. No one was able to reach us all day. And, we were OKAY.
We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride them down the hill, Only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem....
We did not have Play stations, Nintendo's and X-boxes. There were no video games, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's, No surround-sound or CD's, No cell phones, No personal computers,no Internet and no chat rooms.
WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!
We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents. We would get spankings with wooden spoons, switches, ping pong paddles, or just a bare hand and no one would call child services to report abuse.
We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever..
We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.
We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them. Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment.
Imagine that!!
The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law! These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever.
The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas. What can kids today do besides push buttons... They can't even add in their head.. they have to use a calculator. We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all. If YOU are one of them, CONGRATULATIONS!

Buttocks clenched, he performs a slow pirouette, and gently slides off first the right strap of his overalls, followed by the left. He then hunches his shoulders forward and in a classic striptease move, lets his overalls fall down to his hips, revealing a torn and frayed plaid shirt. Then, grabbing both sides of his shirt, he rips it apart to reveal his stained T-shirt underneath. With a final flourish, he tears the T-shirt from his body, and hurls his baseball cap onto a pile of hay.

Negative People
Remember this story the next time someone who knows nothing and cares less tries to make your life miserable.
A woman was at her hairdresser's getting her hair styled for a trip to Rome with her husband. She mentioned the trip to the hairdresser, who responded:"Rome? Why would anyone want to go there? It's crowded and dirty. You're crazy to go to Rome. So, how are you getting there?"
"We're taking Continental," was the reply. "We got a great rate!" "Continental?" exclaimed the hairdresser…" That's a terrible airline. Their planes are old, their flight attendants are ugly, and they're always late. So, where are you staying in Rome?”
"We'll be at this exclusive little place over on Rome's Tiber River called Teste."
"Don't go any further... I know that place. Everybody thinks its goanna be something special and exclusive, but it's really a dump."
"We're going to go to see the Vatican and maybe get to see the Pope." "That's rich," laughed the hairdresser. You and a million other people trying to see him. He'll look the size of an ant. Boy, good luck on this lousy trip of yours. You're going to need it."
A month later, the woman again came in for a hairdo. The hairdresser asked her about her trip to Rome.
"It was wonderful," explained the woman, "not only were we on time in One of Continental's brand new planes, but it was overbooked, and they bumped us up to first class. The food and wine were wonderful, and I had a handsome 28-year-old steward who waited on me hand and foot.
And the hotel was great! They'd just finished a $5 million remodeling job, and now it's a jewel, the finest hotel in the city. They, too, were overbooked, so they apologized and gave us their owner's suite at no extra charge!"
"Well," muttered the hairdresser, "that's all well and good, but I know you didn't get to see the Pope."
"Actually, we were quite lucky, because as we toured the Vatican, a Swiss Guard tapped me on the shoulder, and explained that the Pope likes to meet some of the visitors, and if I'd be so kind as to step into his private room and wait, the Pope would personally greet me. Sure enough, five minutes later, the Pope walked through the door and shook my hand! I knelt down and he spoke a few words to me."
"Oh, really! What'd he say?” He said: "Who in the heck did your hair?"

Burnt Biscuits
When I was a kid, my mom liked to make breakfast for dinner every now and then. And I remember one night in particular when she had made breakfast after a long, hard day at work.
On that evening so long ago, my mom placed a plate of eggs, sausage and extremely burned biscuits in front of my dad. I remember waiting to see if anyone noticed!
Yet all my dad did was reach for his biscuit, smile at my mom and ask me how my day was at school. I don't remember what I told him that night, but I do remember watching him smear butter and jelly on that biscuit and eat every bite!
When I got up from the table that evening, I remember hearing
my mom apologize to my dad for burning the biscuits. And I'll never forget what he said: "Honey, I love burned biscuits."
Later that night, I went to kiss Daddy good night and I asked him if he really liked his biscuits burned. He wrapped me in his arms and said, "Your Momma put in a hard day at work today and she's real tired. And besides - a little burnt biscuit never hurt anyone!"
Life is full of imperfect things.....and imperfect people. I'm not the best at hardly anything, and I forget birthdays and anniversaries just like everyone else. But what I've learned over the years is that learning to accept each others faults - and choosing to celebrate each others differences - is one of the most important keys to creating a healthy, growing, and lasting
relationship.
And that's my prayer for you today. That you will learn to take the good, the bad, and the ugly parts of your life and lay them at the feet of God. Because in the end, He's the only One who will be able to give you a relationship where a burnt biscuit isn't a deal-breaker!
We could extend this to any relationship. In fact, understanding is the base of any relationship, be it a husband-wife or parent-child or friendship!

Malachi 3: 3
Malachi 3:3 says: “He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver.”
This verse puzzled some members of a Bible study and they wondered what this statement meant about the character and nature of God.
One of the ladies offered to find out the process of refining silver and get back to the group at their next Bible Study.
That week, the woman called a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him at work. She didn't mention anything about the reason for her interest beyond her curiosity about the process of refining Silver.
As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up. He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the impurities.
The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot; then she thought again about the verse that says: “He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver.”
She asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time.
The man answered that yes, he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it was in the fire. If the silver was left a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed.
The woman was silent for a moment. Then she asked the silversmith, “How do you know when the silver is fully refined?”
He smiled at her and answered, “Oh, that's easy -- when I see my image in it.”
If today you are feeling the heat of the fire, remember that God has his eye on you and will keep watching you until He sees His image in you.

Galatians 5: 22-26
Galatians 5:22-26 (The Message)
But what happens when we live God's way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard—things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely.
Legalism is helpless in bringing this about; it only gets in the way. Among those who belong to Christ, everything connected with getting our own way and mindlessly responding to what everyone else calls necessities is killed off for good—crucified.
Since this is the kind of life we have chosen, the life of the Spirit, let us make sure that we do not just hold it as an idea in our heads or a sentiment in our hearts, but work out its implications in every detail of our lives. That means we will not compare ourselves with each other as if one of us were better and another worse. We have far more interesting things to do with our lives. Each of us is an original.

Rediscovering the Kingdom

When God speaks to us, He always speaks to the real person, not the person others see or even how we see ourselves. He looks beyond our external circumstances and personal characteristics as He addresses the leader inside us. No matter who we are, where we are, or what we do, God wants to deploy us into leadership. Wherever we work, whatever our career, we should think of our employment not as just a job but as an opportunity God has given us to release our leadership abilities. We should not complain about our wages or salary because we are already worth more than anyone could ever pay us. Work is not about simply making money in order to live. Work is also about being trained to assume our rightful place of leadership in the world.
As believers, we are all children of the King. The first step in successfully navigating between two kingdoms is learning how to think and act like the King’s children. In spiritual reality we are all princes and princesses, but practically speaking most of us are not there yet because negative thinking has stunted our mental processes. Because we never learned to think like royalty, we still act like the prodigal son, seeking only the servant’s share.
God wants us to open our eyes to see the wonders of who we truly are – His children – and reach out to claim all that is ours by right of sonship. It all comes down to a decision that each of us alone must make: whether we will live as sons and daughters in the Kingdom of God, or as subjects in the kingdom of the world.
MAKE IT A GREAT DAY!

Where's the New Man?

When Death Becomes Life
So what do we do? Keep on sinning so God can keep on forgiving? I should hope not! If we've left the country where sin is sovereign, how can we still live in our old house there? Or didn't you realize we packed up and left there for good? That is what happened in baptism. When we went under the water, we left the old country of sin behind; when we came up out of the water, we entered into the new country of grace—a new life in a new land!
That's what baptism into the life of Jesus means. When we are lowered into the water, it is like the burial of Jesus; when we are raised up out of the water, it is like the resurrection of Jesus. Each of us is raised into a light-filled world by our Father so that we can see where we're going in our new grace-sovereign country.
Could it be any clearer? Our old way of life was nailed to the cross with Christ, a decisive end to that sin-miserable life—no longer at sin's every beck and call! What we believe is this: If we get included in Christ's sin-conquering death, we also get included in his life-saving resurrection. We know that when Jesus was raised from the dead it was a signal of the end of death-as-the-end. Never again will death have the last word. When Jesus died, he took sin down with him, but alive he brings God down to us. From now on, think of it this way: Sin speaks a dead language that means nothing to you; God speaks your mother tongue, and you hang on every word. You are dead to sin and alive to God. That's what Jesus did.
That means you must not give sin a vote in the way you conduct your lives. Don't give it the time of day. Don't even run little errands that are connected with that old way of life. Throw yourselves wholeheartedly and full-time—remember, you've been raised from the dead!—into God's way of doing things. Sin can't tell you how to live. After all, you're not living under that old tyranny any longer. You're living in the freedom of God.
What Is True Freedom?
So, since we're out from under the old tyranny, does that mean we can live any old way we want? Since we're free in the freedom of God, can we do anything that comes to mind? Hardly. You know well enough from your own experience that there are some acts of so-called freedom that destroy freedom. Offer yourselves to sin, for instance, and it's your last free act. But offer yourselves to the ways of God and the freedom never quits. All your lives you've let sin tell you what to do. But thank God you've started listening to a new master, one whose commands set you free to live openly in his freedom!
I'm using this freedom language because it's easy to picture. You can readily recall, can't you, how at one time the more you did just what you felt like doing—not caring about others, not caring about God—the worse your life became and the less freedom you had? And how much different is it now as you live in God's freedom, your lives healed and expansive in holiness?
As long as you did what you felt like doing, ignoring God, you didn't have to bother with right thinking or right living, or right anything for that matter. But do you call that a free life? What did you get out of it? Nothing you're proud of now. Where did it get you? A dead end.
But now that you've found you don't have to listen to sin tell you what to do, and have discovered the delight of listening to God telling you, what a surprise! A whole, healed, put-together life right now, with more and more of life on the way! Work hard for sin your whole life and your pension is death. But God's gift is real life, eternal life, delivered by Jesus, our Master.

The Gift Part 2
There are Spiritual gifts and there are natural gifts. Every “good and perfect gift” comes from God; James 1: 17, 18. In our lifetime we will receive a lot of gifts; Christmas gifts, birthday gifts, anniversary gifts, “just because” gifts and so on and so forth. God is a giver; God gives gifts – God’s most precious gift to us is, of course, regeneration through the new birth and the restoration of His Kingdom here on earth. The Creator God has given an endowment to every human being. God has given a gift to every person who has been or ever will be born into the earth. We’ve all been given an inborn capacity to take on the nature of God Himself and thereby fulfill a specific plan for our life and the lives of everyone we touch throughout our lifetime. Adam and Eve set the reproductive process in motion and bore the human race. We have a predisposition to connect with the God who created Adam and Eve. Understanding this makes it easy to follow a destiny that is unique to each individual and helps us to enjoy the good life that God’s plan and purpose provides.
Of all the gifts that are good and pleasurable and necessary to living the good life there is one gift that is totally unique. It is the gift that God installs inside us; it’s like buried treasure. In the same way that fingerprints and DNA are unique to every person; it is a gift that no one else on earth has. This “gift” we’ve been given is God’s “investment” in us. It is a gift placed “in us” and it is God’s gift to the world that is expressed “through us.” Call it flair, call it instinct, call it genius, call it potential, intellectual ability, resolve or call it talent and ability; it’s “the stuff” that makes you the “you” that God predestined “you” to be and it’s “what it takes” to enable your life to bring glory to Him. Maybe you never thought about your life actually bringing glory to God and maybe you don’t intend to live a lifestyle that brings glory to God; it’s your life and you’re free to choose. If, for some reason, you don’t want your life to glorify God then prepare to choose your battles and fight them alone but you still possess a talent and ability that was given to by The Creator. What you choose to do with your gift is totally up to you. Your talent carries great responsibility. It is meant to produce an intimate relationship with Creator God; for you and for the people who are affected by God’s gift in you. Whether you’re a world renowned concert pianist or a cracker-jack auto mechanic your gift makes room for you in this world and everywhere your gift is used it should establish God’s covenant and show forth His love to all mankind; you are an ambassador and your gift is a peace offering. The gift does not belong to you but it is free to you and whether you choose to use it for good or evil, right or wrong, genius or stupid is up to “the free agent” God created you to be. You alone will answer for the way you used your God given gift and the destiny that is tied to it. Your gift is unique to you and you alone but it affects the destinies of everyone in your sphere of influence.
Deuteronomy 8: 18 says, “you shall remember the Lord your God for it is He who gives you the power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.” The “power” he’s talking about is your gift; it is our native ability to use our strength’s to produce a positive end. It is an empowerment that enables us to fulfill God’s plan and purpose for the life we live on this earth; it is your God given talent and ability to amass wealth to bring prosperity into your life until it overflows into the lives of everyone around us. We are “blessed to be a blessing” to others. God’s ultimate intention; the hope of His calling in us is “to establish His covenant in the earth.” If your ability to play the guitar transforms you into a Superstar then you have a decision to make. If your talent for throwing a football or hitting a baseball brings worldwide attention to you then you have a decision to make. You have to decide who gets credit for the attention that your gift brings you.
You have to decide how to use your blessing to be a blessing. There are billions of people on the planet and no two DNA samples are alike. In the same way that DNA identifies our biological being – our “spiritual DNA” identifies our spiritual being. The newborn infant is a blank slate; a formatted hard drive awaiting data to be written on it! But, everything the newborn is intended to be has already been created and installed and ready to be activated!
The Bible says much about God’s design for our life.
Psalm 139: 13 - “for You did form my inward parts; You did knit me together in my mother’s womb.”
Jeremiah 1:5 – “before I formed you in the womb I knew and approved of you as My chosen instrument, and before you were born I separated and set you apart, consecrating you; and I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
Romans 8:29, 30 – “for whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, He also called and whom He called He also justified and whom He justified He also glorified.”

Life, liberty or your pursuit of happiness will not be endangered because someone says a 30-second prayer before a football game. So what's the big deal? It's not
like somebody is up there reading the entire Book of Acts. They're just talking to a God they believe in and asking him to grant safety to the players on the field and
the fans going home from the game.
But it's a Christian prayer, some will argue. Yes, and this is the United States of America and Canada , countries founded on Christian principles. According to our very own phone book, Christian churches outnumber all others more than 200-to-1! So what would you expect -- somebody chanting Hare Krishna?
If I went to a football game in Jerusalem , I would expect to hear a Jewish prayer.
If I went to a soccer game in Baghdad , I would expect to hear a Muslim prayer.
If I went to a ping pong match in China , I would expect to hear someone pray to Buddha.
And I wouldn't be offended. It wouldn't bother me one bit. When in Rome ...
But 'what about the atheists?' is another argument. What about them? Nobody is asking them to be baptized. We're not going to pass the collection plate. Just humour us for 30 seconds. If that's asking too much, bring a Walkman or a pair of ear plugs. Go to the bathroom. Visit the concession stand. Call your lawyer!
Unfortunately, one or two will make that call. One or two will tell thousands what they can and cannot do. I don't think a short prayer at a football game is going to shake the world's foundations.

Our Bible tells us to pray without ceasing. Now a handful of people and their lawyers are telling us to cease praying.

Southern Part of Heaven - Barry Lee Harwood
I’ve got great news for you old, grizzled, hard-core southern rock fans! If you were a fan of Lynyrd Skynyrd and/or the Rossington-Collins Band, then the name Barry Lee Harwood certainly strikes a chord. Barry played dobra and mandolin on three of Skynyrd’s early releases and later was a guitarist, producer, and song writer for the post-crash remnants of Skynyrd, the Rossington-Collins Band. To avoid further delay, here is the news: Barry Lee has recently released a brand new collection of songs on his CD, Southern Part of Heaven.
This is not your typical dueling guitars, riff after riff of good ol’ down home boogie and jukin’ music with some country, bluegrass, and blues mixed in. Well, in a way it is. However, because of a change in the path Barry now follows in his life, these are songs that have a Godly message. Please don’t misunderstand me—to use the title of a Rossington-Collins song to make my point—it is not a Christian rock album, but it’s a collection of some wonderful songs by a Christian. The songs can be played in front of any audience, and you won’t have to worry about offending anybody, whether it’s covering up a young child’s ears or scaring your grandparents, thinking that the end of the world is in sight. This is simply a slice of Americana.
I’d summarize the music on this album as uplifting. The opening track, “No Regrets,” has a Skynyrd feel to it, and it’s surely autobiographical. There is some tasty slide guitar work on this track also. The third song, “Laid Back in the South,” creates a mood as if I were in Kentucky or Tennessee, sitting under a tree with rolling hills, green pastures, and rivers running by. “Rocky Top Flyer” is a humorous song, the type we’ve become accustomed to from the good old boys down south singing of love lost. Why, the woman in the song even took the dog! The other “train” song on the CD is a beautiful song entitled, “Anywhere a Train Can Go.” For me, it had an early Eagles feel to it, harkening back to when Bernie Leadon was still a member of the band.
I’ve had the pleasure of speaking with Barry recently. He’s hard at work on another record, which he said will have a bit more of a harder southern rock feel to it. What was obvious to me from our conversation was the passion, conviction, and commitment that he put into Southern Part of Heaven. If you need a record that will make you feel good about yourself and life in general and help remind you of the blessings in life, this is it.

Eight years ago Scott Greene interviewed former Rossington Collins Band member Barry Lee Harwood for GRITZ. At the time, Barry Lee was beginning a whole new life path and had great plans for a new band and a new album.

Barry Lee Harwood: The Southern Part of Heaven
Guitarist/singer/songwriter Barry Lee Harwood might not be a household name to some, but to serious Southern Rock aficionados, he will always be remembered as one of the musicians that helped a few of the surviving members of Lynyrd Skynyrd move on after that tragic plane crash back in 1977. Harwood, along with Gary Rossington, Allen Collins, Billy Powell, Leon Wilkeson, Dale Krantz, and Derek Hess formed The Rossington-Collins Band in 1979, and had a run of two successful albums before disbanding in 1982. Harwood then went on with Allen Collins for a brief spell in the Allen Collins Band. Now, many years later, he's resurfaced with a brand new solo album, titled The Southern Part of Heaven.
If you talk to anyone who was a fan of the RCB or the ACB, they'll be the first to tell you how important Harwood was to both bands, and listening to this new CD you can certainly see why. This guy is still a major talent, possessing formidable guitar skills and a damn fine vocalist as well. Whether it's blistering, guitar heavy Southern Rock on "No Regrets", twangy country rock complete with mandolin, acoustic, and electric guitars on "Between Me & My Dreams", Marshall Tucker Band styled bluesy Southern fried rock as heard on "Come the Mornin", or tasty, virtuoso bluegrass tinged rock such as "Rocky Top Flyer", there's exciting music to be heard around every corner. Harwood's excellent acoustic guitar skills are on display on the challenging instrumental "Somet Eagle", and he delivers some catchy, Southern Rock 'n' funk with the irresistable sounds of "Workin On My Story", complete with some sizzling organ and melodic guitar solos. There's a Christian theme to some of the songs on the CD, but Harwood thankfully doesn't go oeverboard with it.
The Southern Part of Heaven is a welcome release for the summer of 2010, and signals the return of a Southern Rock player who, quite frankly, has been away from the spotlight for too long. Welcome back Barry Lee!

Communion on the Moon
Communion on the Moon: July 20th, 1969

Forty years ago two human beings changed history by walking on the surface of the moon. But what happened before Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong exited the Lunar Module is perhaps even more amazing, if only because so few people know about it. I'm talking about the fact that Buzz Aldrin took communion on the surface of the moon. Some months after his return, he wrote about it in Guideposts magazine.
And a few years ago I had the privilege of meeting him myself. I asked him about it and he confirmed the story to me, and I wrote about it in my book Everything You Always Wanted to Know About God, But Were Afraid to Ask.
The background to the story is that Aldrin was an elder at his Presbyterian Church in Texas during this period in his life. And knowing that he would soon be doing something unprecedented in human history, he felt he should mark the occasion somehow, and he asked his minister to help him. And so the minister consecrated a communion wafer and a small vial of communion wine. And Buzz Aldrin took them with him out of the Earth's orbit and on to the surface of the moon. He and Armstrong had only been on the lunar surface for a few minutes when Aldrin made the following public statement:
"This is the LM pilot. I'd like to take this opportunity to ask every person listening in, whoever and wherever they may be, to pause for a moment and contemplate the events of the past few hours and to give thanks in his or her own way." He then ended radio communication and there, on the silent surface of the moon, 250,000 miles from home, he read a verse from the Gospel of John, and he took communion. Here is his own account of what happened:
"In the radio blackout, I opened the little plastic packages which contained the bread and the wine. I poured the wine into the chalice our church had given me. In the one-sixth gravity of the moon, the wine slowly curled and gracefully came up the side of the cup. Then I read the Scripture, 'I am the vine, you are the branches. Whosoever abides in me will bring forth much fruit. Apart from me you can do nothing.'
I had intended to read my communion passage back to earth, but at the last minute [they] had requested that I not do this. NASA was already embroiled in a legal battle with Madelyn Murray O'Hare, the celebrated opponent of religion, over the Apollo 8 crew reading from Genesis while orbiting the moon at Christmas. I agreed, reluctantly.
I ate the tiny Host and swallowed the wine. I gave thanks for the intelligence and spirit that had brought two young pilots to the Sea of Tranquility. It was interesting for me to think: the very first liquid ever poured on the moon, and the very first food eaten there, were the communion elements.
And of course, it's interesting to think that some of the first words spoken on the moon were the words of Jesus Christ, who made the Earth and the moon - and who, in the immortal words of Dante, is Himself the "Love that moves the Sun and other stars."

Barry's CD
We came home from dinner at Longhorn, and I put in Barry’s CD. Truly, I was amazed at hearing his beautiful music. I do like all kinds of music and I thought his music made you feel happy and was so uplifting! I loved his version of Swing Low Sweet Chariot and the words to Laid Back in the South – also his ability to play so many different instruments. I couldn’t wait to get on the website and read his background and musical history. That was certainly impressive. I think it truly is a God-given gift to be so creative in writing songs and expressing spiritual beliefs so that it will be a ministry to others. We keep the CD in the car and it calms us down when we get in all this Charlotte traffic!

• We did enjoy the music last night during dinner. I particularly like the Somet Eagle (sp?) instrumental and the Rocky Top Flyer if I have the names right. Momma wasn’t too happy that the kids and I would miss the dog more than the woman, but she’ll get used to it. ;-)
If you ever do a purely acoustic instrumental guitar set of songs for “easy” listening like would be good on a Sunday afternoon, I’ll be the first customer. There’s something about good acoustic guitar play that really catches my ear and sets a positive mood. Have you ever thought about maybe doing some of the old spirituals in acoustic guitar but with a bit of your own artistic flavor influencing the tone? I’d bet you could get folks tapping their toes and in a positive relaxing mood even if they didn’t know they were hearing an old hymn like Rock of Ages or How Great thou Art.

From Faith to Faith
Live the Love Life

But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in Him. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. – 1 John 2:5-6
There is nothing--absolutely nothing--that is more important than learning to love. In fact, how accurately you perfect the love walk will determine how much of the perfect will of God you accomplish. That's because every other spiritual force derives its action from love. For example, the Bible teaches us that faith works by love. And answered prayer is almost an impossibility when a believer steps outside of love and refuses to forgive or is in strife with his brother.
Without love, your giving will not work. Tongues and prophecy will not work. Faith fails and knowledge is unfruitful. All the truths that you have learned from God's Word work by love. They will profit you nothing unless you live the love of God.
First Corinthians 13:4-8 paints a perfect picture of how love behaves. It's patient and kind. It's not jealous or proud. It doesn't behave rudely or selfishly and it isn't touchy. Love "bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things."
Sounds like a tall order, doesn't it? But don't despair. You are a love creature. God has recreated your spirit in the image of love. And He has sent His love Spirit to live in you and teach you how to love as He loves. You can live the love life. Why not begin today?

dear barry lee, sir.
i got "the southern part of heaven" a while ago from CD Baby. download. straight to my computer! i love it. easy and fast. before i always have to wait for about 2 weeks, pay for postage and sometimes duty....but it comes without cover art.......
but come to the important part, the music. i LOVE this album much and have it on permanent rotation in my car and listen to it a lot back home.
with no regrets, you really know how to start a new album.the first riff says it all. it is like a statement. "here is a new southern rock album" with a lot of great southern music, nice stories, fantastic guitars, heavy riff's and very touching voices. i love you bring banjo harmonica and stuff it, that makes it fresh and not a second on this album is boring.
laid back in the south is one of my favorites. i remember, when i heart it for the first time. before the music started, i felt like being "back home" in the south, where my heart always is. nice hot and humid. sittin in a rockin chair in the shade at a porch, sweet tea, kids, dogs and story telling. and i love to listen when the harp starts telling the story.....man, i wish myself back to the south RIGHT NOW!
when the beat goes slower at come the morning, i lean back, can close my eyes and fly away, thinking about my wonderful life. the sax start telling me about my wife ceci. we're for 18 years now and i love her more every day and the piano helps out, imagine our future and it will be great.......
the rooster on rocky top flyer wakes me up and remind me when friends in AL take me out fishin' for my first time (no fishin, hunting, shooting in my country for people without big money in my country).....livin' in a apartment is a big city, i never had a dog but i miss the south and the old dog at the winters farm....
the grand piano together with the orchestral string arrangements on somet eagle is the only thing, i don't like so much on this album (sorry, but i think, i should tell you what i really think and feel) it is a great song, but not written for me. beautiful voices at i am that i am. who are they?
and you let me go with workin on my story.......another great song, easy goin and still playin on in my mind when i turn the music off.
i hope, you're not just working on your story and go on working on another album. it might take years, but take your time and play more of this great southern music for me and for the world. with this album, you did a fantastic new milestone in southern culture. while other bands celebrating themselves and run for more money, you sit back and did southern culture history. thank you much sir.

i sure believe in God. not in church or religion, i believe in GOD, the one and only father for ALL of us.black, white, yellow, old. young, muslim, buddist, jew, hindu, christ and so on, father for poor and rich, smart or stupid, old, young, male, female (and everything between in this crazy times)...and i love to listen to gospel music a lot. most gospel songs are worn out, overheard, played to death (like born to be wild, sweet home aL....) when i read, you recorded it, i asked myself, do we really need this song recorded again? after listen to it, i know, WE NEEDED IT !!!! you made is sound so fresh, so new....it touched me deep in my heart and i played it again and again.

After reviewing this incredible piece of work it sounds like all of the roots of southern music from southern rock to country to bluegrass to gospel have finally merged into a masterpiece. This will inspire you no matter what your heritage is.

i got "the southern part of heaven" a while ago from CD Baby. download. straight to my computer! i love it. easy and fast. before i always have to wait for about 2 weeks, pay for postage and sometimes duty....but it comes without cover art.......
but come to the important part, the music. i LOVE this album much and have it on permanent rotation in my car and listen to it a lot back home.
with no regrets, you really know how to start a new album.the first riff says it all. it is like a statement. "here is a new southern rock album" with a lot of great southern music, nice stories, fantastic guitars, heavy riff's and very touching voices. i love you bring banjo harmonica and stuff it, that makes it fresh and not a second on this album is boring.
laid back in the south is one of my favorites. i remember, when i heart it for the first time. before the music started, i felt like being "back home" in the south, where my heart always is. nice hot and humid. sittin in a rockin chair in the shade at a porch, sweet tea, kids, dogs and story telling. and i love to listen when the harp starts telling the story.....man, i wish myself back to the south RIGHT NOW!
when the beat goes slower at come the morning, i lean back, can close my eyes and fly away, thinking about my wonderful life. the sax start telling me about my wife ceci. we're for 18 years now and i love her more every day and the piano helps out, imagine our future and it will be great.......
the rooster on rocky top flyer wakes me up and remind me when friends in AL take me out fishin' for my first time (no fishin, hunting, shooting in my country for people without big money in my country).....livin' in a apartment is a big city, i never had a dog but i miss the south and the old dog at the winters farm....
the grand piano together with the orchestral string arrangements on somet eagle is the only thing, i don't like so much on this album (sorry, but i think, i should tell you what i really think and feel) it is a great song, but not written for me. beautiful voices at i am that i am. who are they?
and you let me go with workin on my story.......another great song, easy goin and still playin on in my mind when i turn the music off.
i hope, you're not just working on your story and go on working on another album. it might take years, but take your time and play more of this great southern music for me and for the world. with this album, you did a fantastic new milestone in southern culture. while other bands celebrating themselves and run for more money, you sit back and did southern culture history. thank you much sir.

i sure believe in God. not in church or religion, i believe in GOD, the one and only father for ALL of us.black, white, yellow, old. young, muslim, buddist, jew, hindu, christ and so on, father for poor and rich, smart or stupid, old, young, male, female (and everything between in this crazy times)...and i love to listen to gospel music a lot. most gospel songs are worn out, overheard, played to death (like born to be wild, sweet home aL....) when i read, you recorded it, i asked myself, do we really need this song recorded again? after listen to it, i know, WE NEEDED IT !!!! you made is sound so fresh, so new....it touched me deep in my heart and i played it again and again.
sir, you're a great, talented musician and a fantastic person. please do more music when you got the inspiration and i hope i will see you again one day, somewhere on this beautiful planet.
